A Love Letter to My Mind

This week, as many are honoring Passover and Easter—times of reflection, renewal, and new beginnings—I found myself turning inward.
Not to the traditions, although I cherish them.
Not to the rituals, though they bring comfort and connection.
But to something deeper.
A quiet awareness… that within each of us, there is a spirit.
A presence that watches, that gently guides, that reminds us who we are beneath the noise.
And alongside that presence… is the mind.
Powerful.
Complex.
Sometimes overwhelming.
And so today, instead of trying to quiet it…I choose to thank it.
Dear Mind,
Thank you.
Thank you for the countless ways you support me each and every day.
For helping me walk through this world—
to see its beauty,
to breathe deeply,
to taste, to feel, to remember.
Thank you for holding my memories—the joyful moments that make me smile,
and even the painful ones that have shaped who I am.
Thank you for fear.
Even when it feels uncomfortable, I know it’s there to protect me.
To slow me down… to bring awareness… to remind me to be mindful and present.
And still…
There are moments when you feel like too much.
When your thoughts race and keep me awake at night.
When worry settles in.
When frustration or doubt begins to take over.
In those moments, it’s easy to forget…
That you are also extraordinary.
Creative.
Insightful.
Brilliant in your ability to solve, to imagine, to understand.
You help me make meaning of my experiences.
You help me grow.
And for that—I am deeply grateful.
Thank you for my heart…
For the love it carries.
For the compassion and kindness that guide how I move through the world.
For the small moments—
a shared smile,
a gentle word,
a quiet act of care.
And for the larger moments—
holding space for others,
guiding them back to themselves,
reminding them of their own worth.
Even when my heart feels heavy…
From loss.
From sadness.
From moments of feeling not enough.
There is something within that softly whispers…
You are whole.
You are worthy.
You are enough.
Thank you for the people in my life—
those who have brought joy,
and those who have brought lessons.
Both have shaped me in ways I continue to discover.
Thank you for the journey.
For the highs and the lows.
For the clarity and the confusion.
For the growth that continues to unfold.
And most of all…
Thank you for the gift of choice.
The ability to pause.
To reflect.
To choose how I respond.
To choose love, again and again.
I may not always understand you.
And I may not always feel at peace within you.
But today…
I choose gratitude.
With love,
Phyllis

What might shift…if instead of resisting your mind—
you paused
and simply said,
thank you?
